What it doesinstead is deliver a story that can’t decide if it wants to be a comedywith the usual hairdresser etc clichГ©s or a more soppy romantic film.It tries to do both but doesn’t manage to succeed at either – althoughprobably not because of it trying to do these things so much as it justbeing fairly basic stuff. The openinghook is odd because it casts a serious tone over the first parts of thefilm (until you forget it) but at the same time you are also aware thatit is not going to go the way that it suggests it will. As such this pretty muchfitted the bill but, even with my low requirements it must be said thatthe film didn’t bring anything in particular to the table.
